October 25, 2024 – La Joya, TX — JFK Elementary School lit up with holiday spirit as students unveiled their literary-themed pumpkins at the annual Storybook Pumpkin Decorating Contest. This year’s competition showcased an impressive 74 decorated pumpkins, each inspired by beloved storybook characters, bringing joy and excitement to students, staff, and families alike.
The winners, selected for their creativity and attention to detail, were:
- 1st Place: Salome Aguilar for her depiction of Oscar the Grouch.
- 2nd Place: Alberto Rangel with his design of Lightning McQueen.
- 3rd Place:Aleyna Chapa for her charming Fancy Nancy pumpkin.
In recognition of their hard work, all participants will be celebrated during a special Thank You Event. The school community, including students and families, played a pivotal role in making the event a success, kicking off the festive season with flair and teamwork.
